TAG Heuer Monza returns in an ultra-lightweight carbon rendition with a 42-mm case. The TAG Heuer Monza has strong roots in the racing world, specifically with Formulae One. The Tag Heuer Monza was created in 1976 to commemorate Ferrari’s, Niki Lauda’s historic 1975 win for that year’s Formula One Championship. The name Monza is derived from the fastest F1 track in the world*; the Italian Grand Prix, held at Monza. (*With the restructures and introductions of new circuits, this could very much change)
Just like the original Tag Heuer Monza, it features 3 distinct functions, and essentials for a racing driver.
- A 30 Minute Chronograph function found on the sub-dial at 3
- A Tachymeter scale; used to measure the approximate speed over a known distance
- A Pulsometric scale from 12 to 3: Used to measure one’s heart rate per minute.

This watch features two translucent fumé dials, one found at 3, the Chronograph Minute Counter, and 6, the permanent second sub-dial. The dial is skeletonised revealing the Calibre Heuer 02 Flyback, a COSC-certified chronograph movement. The date function at 9 features a blue luminescent, a first for TAG Heuer. The watch’s indexes are blue lacquered with the second hand, the minutes and hour hands are white lacquered. The indices and hands are applied with Super-LumiNova for ultimate legibility in the dark.
The flyback function of this watch is the ability to skip the process of stopping and restarting your chronograph, a function that enables an instant restart. This feature is needed for scenarios where every second matters, like racing (where a second is a long time).

The colours are pretty much an Oracle Red Bull Formula One car, with the carbon to match. Expect to see one on Max Verstappen, Sergio Pérez, or even the honey badger Daniel Ricciardo’s wrist in 2023’s Formula one races. We might even get another Monza limited edition if red bull wins the championships!
